Collection of letters written during the Civil War or related to it, with a few miscellaneous military papers. It also includes the war reminiscences of Anthony S. Chambers, a reporter for the Daily Gazette in Baltimore, written as a 145-page letter to David E. Cronin in 1902. Chambers comments on anti-Union activities in Baltimore, the attitude of Governor Thomas Holliday Hicks towards secession, the attitude of Mayor George William Brown, the rioting against the 6th Massachusetts Regiment, and General Robert E. Lee's army en route to and from Gettysburg.
